Penguins Take 2-1 Overtime Win over Phantoms

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Jean-Sebastien Dea's goal at 4:58 of overtime was the difference, as the Penguins posted a 2-1 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday night in Allentown. The Penguins upped their record to 5-4-0-0 on the season after winning their second game in overtime this year. The Phantoms fell to 4-2-1-0 with the loss.

Dea's goal, his third of the season, came on the power play with Nick Cousins sitting in the box for holding. The tally came just 13 seconds into the man advantage.

It was fitting that the winning goal came from the Pens special teams, as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton snuffed all nine power play attempts the Phantoms threw at them during the evening, including a pair of five-on-three opportunities.

The Penguins struck first as Andrew Ebbett slammed home his second goal in as many games, this one coming during a five-on-three power play with 8:43 left in the opening frame. Derrick Pouliot and Jean-Sebastien Dea picked up the helpers on the goal.

The 1-0 score held for the next 22:42, before Nick Cousins fed a pass under a diving Penguins defender that found Zack Stortini breaking to the net. Stortini, known more for using his hands for throwing punches than scoring goals, went top shelf for his first tally of the season.

Matt Murray was sensational on the evening, stopping 42 shots to record his second win of his rookie campaign. His counterpart, Rob Zepp, turned aside 30 shots in defeat.

The Penguins continue their three-game road trip with a pair of contests against the Norfolk Admirals this Friday (7:30pn) and Saturday (7:15pm) at the Scope.

The Pens return home again next Friday, November 7, when they will host the Hershey Bears at 7:05pm. Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.

Penguins season tickets, including full season, 22-game, 12-game and 10-ticket flex vouchers, are available directly through the Penguins ticket offices at 570-208-7367.
