Latimore's Grand Slam Powers Senators in Extras

Harrisburg Senators News Release
Quincy Latimore's grand slam highlighted a five-run 13th inning that led Harrisburg to a 6-3, extra inning victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Wednesday afternoon.
Latimore's four-run homer in the top of the 13th was Harrisburg's first grand slam since September 1, 2011, spanning 406 games. The homer came off of Richmond's Ryan Lollis, a usual outfielder for Richmond, who was relieving fellow position player, Skylar Stromsmoe. Earlier in the 13th inning, Jason Martinson broke the 1-1 tie with a sac fly that scored James Simmons.
As the second batter of the game, Drew Vettleson put the Senators on the board early with a long solo home run. It appeared the Senators would increase their lead multiple times, but they left season-high 16 men on base. Harrisburg had 12 hits, including ten singles plus Vettleson and Latimore's home runs.
John Simms scattered six hits in his six innings for work, allowing just one run while piling up six strikeouts. Paul Demny lowered his season ERA to 2.70 following a scoreless seventh inning. Tyler Herron continued his outstanding July by firing scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth. Herron and Demny have combined for 1.61 ERA in 28 July innings. Neil Holland picked up the win with three scoreless innings to advance the game to the 13th inning. Robert Benincasa allowed two runs in the 13th but was able to finish off the ball game.
The Senators return home tomorrow to begin a four-game set with the Akron RubberDucks at Metro Bank Park. James Simmons will start the opener for Harrisburg against Akron's Joesph Colon beginning at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
